DemocracyFest Schedule Coming Together

The 6th Annual DemocracyFest, a liberal/progressive political festival that helps keep activists educated and motivated to make a difference in our country and communities, is coming to Vermont Friday, July 17th through Sunday, July 19th. The line-up for speakers, entertainers and sponsors will be extensive again this year.

Speakers include: Howard Dean, Former Governor of Vermont and DNC Chair; Deb Markowitz, Vermont Secretary of State; David Zuckerman, Vermont State Representative; Charlie Grapski, Citizen Rights Activist; Sheryl Rapee-Adams, Deputy Field Director for VT Freedom to Marry; Dan DeWalt, Safe & Renewable Energy Activist; Alan Dechert, Executive Director of the Open Voting Consortium and Deb Richter MD, Universal Health Care Activist.

Entertainers so far include: Bobby Kendes, guitarist and vocals for The Peace, folk music with a hip-hop flair; Subway Serenade, political-folk music straight from the New York Subways and Rebecca Pedula, soulful contemporary folk with a blues streak.

Sponsors for this event include Democracy for Vermont, Latinos for America, Green Mountain Mailer, Brain Arcade Design Studio, Vermont Freedom to Marry, Vermont Gay Guide, Vermont Progressive Party, Vermont Democratic Party, Sheraton Hotel and the National Women’s Political Caucus.

More speakers, entertainers and sponsors are being added regularly. To see the current list go to our website at www.DemocracyFest.net.

The activities, which focus on “Education by Day, Celebration by Night,” will begin with a semi-guided tour of Burlington on Friday for those arriving early. Then the event moves to the Burlington Sheraton on Friday evening for the Welcome Party. Tickets are only $55 each for the entire weekend and include all trainings, entertainment, and speakers on Saturday and Sunday; dinner on Saturday, Bloggers Breakfast on Sunday, free parking or transportation to and from Burlington Airport, as well as networking and interaction with activists and leaders from across the nation. Children under 14 free with an adult ticket purchase.
